Not every machine in a rack needs to be a heavyweight champion. Sometimes the key is balance: reasonable power, scalability, reliability and good cooling – at a reasonable price. And this is exactly the class where Dell PowerEdge R450 performs very well. This is a server for those who need more than R250 or R350 can provide, but aren't yet at the stage of investing in the R650 or R750 series. It has full-fledged two sockets, support for large amounts of RAM, fast PCIe interfaces, enterprise-class controllers – plus a 1U chassis that fits anywhere.

Dell PowerEdge R450 – more than basic, less than excessive

Dell PowerEdge R450 is a full-fledged, dual-processor platform, which in practice handles the same tasks as more expensive servers – but without excessive TDP, without unnecessary features and without over-investment. Thanks to its 1U rack chassis, it can be easily plugged into existing infrastructure – in a server cabinet, colocation facility or IT department server room. It operates quietly, efficiently and is ready for work under any conditions.

Depending on configuration, Dell PowerEdge R450 can be equipped with Intel Xeon Silver or Gold processors (Scalable series) – up to 32 cores combined, with support for DDR4 RDIMM RAM with error correction (ECC), H755 RAID controllers, two power supplies (redundant), 1/10/25 GbE network interfaces and remote management via iDRAC 9 Enterprise. This is a server that provides real performance advantages in parallel processing, multi-threaded application work and virtual environments.

Everything enclosed in a compact, yet well-designed chassis that can accommodate up to 8 drives 2.5" or 4x 3.5", with the option to install NVMe, SAS or SATA SSD. Plus full support for the most popular operating systems and virtualization – Windows Server, Red Hat, Ubuntu, VMware, Proxmox – without fussing with drivers or firmware.

Where does Dell PowerEdge R450 perform best?

This model is most often chosen by companies that run their own infrastructure – but without an entire department of administrators. Dell PowerEdge R450 allows you to build an environment that includes ERP system, database, backup, web applications and development environments – in one rack, without needing to split it across 3-4 different machines. This is a great solution if you have up to 100 users, several locations, remote employees and applications running in 24/7 mode.

The server works well as a primary virtualization machine. Thanks to two processors and a large number of cores, you can run a dozen or so VMs simultaneously – each with a different purpose. In addition, there is large RAM capacity, fast SSD/NVMe storage and the ability to expand with additional controllers, network cards or HBA cards. All within a single 1U chassis.

R450 is also a good choice for customers working in a hybrid model: some applications in the cloud, some locally. For example, you have CRM online, but you back up locally – or you store customer data internally due to GDPR or industry requirements. This server provides complete independence, security and the ability to expand as your company grows – without needing to replace the entire platform.

Dell PowerEdge R450 in Hardware Direct's offer – complete, not a skeleton

What distinguishes Dell PowerEdge R450 in our offer? First and foremost – completeness of configuration. With us, you don't get just a "bare" chassis. Every model has processors, RAM, drives, RAID controllers, power supplies and iDRAC installed – plus mounting rails. You don't need to buy parts, fiddle with cabling or check whether the PSU fits the backplane. The server arrives ready to launch.

You can choose variants with 32 or 64 GB RAM, 480/960 GB SSD, with H355 or H755 RAID, single or dual power supply. If you need more – you can add more drives, change the network card, expand RAM to even 1 TB. All according to your requirements – on request we will also install the operating system, configure arrays and prepare the server for first launch.
